Sony Walkman mobile phone - Sony Ericsson W850i
Friday, April 27th, 2007The Sony Ericsson W850i is another great innovation by Sony. You get a wealth of features, not to mention great performance. Like other Sony mobile phones, there are certain downfalls to the scheme.
First, you will notice this is a ’slider’ phone, which has become quite popular in the design of mobile phones. The design is fairly sturdy, and keeps up quite well. However, the navigation is rather lacking. The buttons are rather large, with some buttons rather hard to get to unless you have fairly long nails. The ‘OK’ button can be rather hard to press at times, until you grow accustomed to the design, which will take time.
Still, the phone offers many features aside from the navigational problem. Standard Bluetooth, MP3 player, and great battery life make this phone still worth having. It has support for USB which makes it a great addition to any computer-savvy mobile phone user’s inventory.
The phone is primarily used for its media features as it holds the Walkman brand name. You will find a great FM radio, MP3 player, and many other options to feed your media hunger but the very small memory card will slow you down. It is almost required to upgrade to a large memory card to use this mobile phone for a media center.
The camera included is above average, a full 2 mega-pixels. This lets you take great shots, better than most other mobile phones and about as good in quality as many digital cameras. This is a major plus for the phone, who boasts a great media experience. You can compose your own ring tones on the phone, and play games in a Java environment, making passing the time rather easy. Calling quality is great, as it should be as it uses the latest tri-band technology that enables you to get even fewer dropped calls.
Overall, this is a great media mobile phone. The media options are staggering, although you will definitely need to upgrade your memory a few notches. The biggest let down is the navigation scheme but you will eventually learn to use it if you can look past it. The mobile phone has a rather steep price but for many it is worth it. The high battery life and myriad of features makes this a great buy. If you are the media hungry type, and don’t mind a little extra learning curve, this phone is great for you, just make sure you get a memory upgrade.
